Problem Statement
safeVisit is one of the products of a company focused on health and safety management. This new product is a visitor management system that aims to be the flagship of the company, bringing safety to their client’s buildings and providing a self check-in method.
THE CONTEXT
Offices have seen a 147% increase in guest visits since January of 2023 *
When the experience of visitors is managed well, visitors add to the company productivity.
Having visitors roaming around may even compromise security and productivity.

BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY
Self-service kiosks are getting more and more familiar. We see them everywhere: restaurants, airports, hotels and several other places.
These kiosks increase the staff productivity, enhance the office security, and elevate the brand identity.
A visitor management kiosk is a secure device designed to streamline registration, visitor access, and the tracking of office visitors.
THE CHALLENGE
One of the clients of safeVisit wants to bring the product to their company since the company building gets a lot of new contractors and visitors coming over. Moreover, their onboarding and training process is still paper-based and they want to embed the contractor sign up, onboarding and training process inside the check-in flow.

Designing an user-centered experience
Emphatise
Immersion in the users' world to deeply understand their needs, emotions, and challenges through research and observation.

Formulate a precise problem statement and user personas by synthesizing gathered insights to establish a clear direction for design.

Encourage creative brainstorming to generate a diverse range of potential solutions to the defined problem.

Develop tangible representations based on user feedback and iterate towards an user-centered solution.
Creating Empathy
To create empathy for the users of the app, firstly it is necessary to understand who they are. In order to do so, I performed an extensive research though articles regarding kiosk’s applications, the visitor management sector and their design and usability patterns.
Main findings

Transitioning from a receptionist to a self-service method requires a conversational design to provide a friendly and efficient check-in.

The design needs to take into consideration users from any age and technology knowledge.

A modern kiosk can be customized with a company's branding and the "look and feel" of its corporate offices.

Not providing proper feedback in the check-in process might make the user feel insecure.

DEFINE AND SYNTHESIZE
Gather insights and elaborate user journeys
To create a delightful user experience, how the user identification is performed and each step and action they need to perform is fundamental. Therefore, based on the analysed pain points and user needs I was able to create the userflow and wireframes to support on the app elaboration.
IDEATE
Following the definition of user journeys, the subsequent step was the elaboration of low fidelity wireframes. I took the listed main findings into account, emphasizing the importance of a conversational design. Additionally, I focused on organizing the inputs and adding the training process in the check-in flow.

The product was design to be white label, which means it can be replicated to other companies following their brand guidelines and needs in the check-in moment, guaranteeing safety and personalization in all levels.
